Gayle Marie Martinez
Gayle Marie, daughter of Elisha (Father) and Nellie Marlow (Mother) was born December 21, 1939, in Montrose, Colorado. She was the youngest of four children having one blood sister Virginia and two half siblings William and Alice. At the age of 2 Gayle became very ill with scarlet fever and was diagnosed as being deaf.
Gayle's loving father was always wanting the best for his daughter. Now knowing that she is deaf, it became relevant that it was now going to be more difficult to communicate and give her the type of education to succeed. He then decided that he will take her and his family to Ogden, Utah to attend the Deaf and Blind school.
Gayle was raised to love the great outdoors and wildlife. Her father often took her horseback riding as a child. She became very close to horses and farm life. Throughout her childhood she became very involved in the arts and enjoyed drawing animals and kept learning different styles of painting animals and outdoor scenes. As she matured her attention to detail became so excellent that friends and family would ask her to paint them their favorite animal and she would lovingly do so. Gayle enjoyed all crafting and has created many ceramic sculptures, bird houses and detailed cross stitching.
After school Gayle was employed with the Internal Revenue Service and retired in 1990. Gayle was first married to Conrad Zimmer and had 3 children Sherry, Leroy and Jim Zimmer and they divorced in the late 70's. During her employment at the IRS she meet Manuel Martinez and they got married in 1981. Manuel was previously married to Josephine Torres and had four children Jerry, Marie, Irene, and Dorothy Martinez. Gayle and Manuel had one son Samuel Martinez. She was with Manuel till his passing in 2010. Gayle was a loving Mom to all her children and loved them dearly.
