Gene Wendell Ogden, 89, of Sunset, Utah, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026. Gene was born on January 6, 1937 in Houston Arkansas.
Gene spent a proud career with the Union Pacific Railroad completing his 40 year career as a foreman. He was a devoted husband to Betty Ann Ogden for 67 years. Together they built a beautiful family and a life rooted in love, hard work, and simple joys.
Known as a true craftsman at heart, Gene had a remarkable talent for creating, restoring, and repairing. He enjoyed going to the flying field with family and friends and brought artistry to everyday life as a jewelry designer and maker, along with handcrafted walking sticks. A self-taught mechanic and car painter, Gene was often the one who could fix what others thought couldn't be fixed. Music and home were also part of Genes world - playing guitar, cooking, and spending time outdoors hunting with friends. Gene enjoyed cutting out coins, faithfully cheering on the Utah Jazz, and time spent fishing. At home, Gene found peace in small wonders; hummingbirds, a carefully tended backyard and fish pond, and the steady work of caring for the garden and keeping the yard just right.
Gene will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and is survived by Carolyn K Seegmiller (Dayne) and Judy L Bessler (Paul) as well as 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
