George Junior Bennett Obituary (1928 - 2016)

George Junior Bennett April 6, 1928 - January 13, 2016 George Junior Bennett, 87, passed away from natural causes on Wednesday, January 13, 2016. He was home, surrounded by his family who loved him dearly. He was born on April 6, 1928 to George Q. Bennett and Elva Arave. He was a lifelong resident of West Point, Utah. He attended West Point Elementary and Davis High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Colleen Cunnington on August 14, 1946 in the Salt Lake City Temple. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints his entire life. He served in the Elder's Quorum, Sunday School, and was a faithful home teacher. George worked for Davis County for 32 years as a road crew member as well as the Davis County Road Superintendent. George trained and showed horses his entire life. George grew up on a dairy farm and continued utilizing what he learned as he farmed for many years. He grew to love all livestock and had a keen sense of ownership and the ability to select choice livestock. George was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Melba (Don) Middleton, Zelma (Dell) Singleton, and Donna (Don) Arave, one grandson, one great-grandson, and one great-granddaughter. He is survived by his wife, sons, Lynn Bennett, Lyle (Joanne) Bennett, and Leon (Carol Anne) Bennett, 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Steven Foote, Dr. Gary Alexander, the staff at Davis Hospital and Medical Center, Bristol Hospice, two special nurses and granddaughters, Collette Bennett and Tiffany Bennett and a special granddaughter, Kamie Boren, who spent hours with grandpa. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the West Point 17th Ward, 4000 West 800 North, West Point, Utah. A viewing will be held on Friday at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday at the church from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services.
