George John Stark

ROY -- George J. Stark, 76, surrounded by his loving family, returned to his Father in Heaven on Friday, March 14, 2008 from complications due to Alzheimer's Disease.

He was born September 26, 1931 in Hooper, Utah to Herbert Stanley and Emma Marie Jensen Stark. He married Carol J. Terry November 10, 1961 in the Logan LDS Temple.

George was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various organizations; he was a Bishop and served on the High Council for many years. He loved doing sealings in the temple. He enjoyed traveling, gardening and loved being with his familya"he cherished his wife more than life itself. He was known and loved for wearing his striped, bib-overalls.

He served in the North Central States Mission and then went on to serve his country in the Korean War. He drove truck for IML and worked for the LDS Church.

Surviving are his wife, Carol; five daughters, Susan (Cary) Mecham, No. Ogden, Sherie (Brad) Pankalla, Philomath, OR, Julie (Cameron) John, Springville, Patti (Robert) Taylor, Richfield, and Terri Stark of Roy; 18 wonderful grandchildren; a brother, Jack (Kathryn) Stark, Roy; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Helen.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Roy 13th Ward Chapel, 5127 South 2400 West. Family will greet friends on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 S. 1900 W. and from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment, Roy City Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded.
