Georgene Rathjen Richardson, known affectionately as Grandma George or Gigi, passed away on February 23, 2025 at the age of 87. Born in Torrence, California on June 19, 1937, Georgene was a beacon of love and resilience throughout her life. She was a compassionate soul who cherished her time spent with her beloved grandkids, nurturing a special bond with each of them. A quote that encapsulates her spirit is, "The love of a grandmother is the tie that binds the generations together."
Georgene was a supportive woman with a heart of gold. She retired from Hill Air Force Base (HAFB) after a rewarding career serving the federal government. Upon retirement, she put her energy into her hobbies, which included golfing, gardening, and substitute teaching. Early on she was an active member of the Doe's club and loved square dancing, where she found joy in companionship and shared interests. Georgene was a force of nature, with a resilient spirit that saw her through life's ups and downs. She lived in several places including Roy and Ogden, before settling in Farr West, Utah. Her life was characterized by her love for her family, her commitment to her work, and her dedication to her hobbies. Her radiant smile and infectious laughter will be remembered by all who knew her.
Georgene is survived by her grandchildren, Aja (Garrett) Wight, Taryn (Justin) Keller, Amanda (Kyler) Kay, Devon (Marcos) Kay, Kristopher Grove, and Arther Pelton. She also leaves behind her sister, Bonnie Whiteaker. Georgene was also a proud great-grandmother to Jaden Norager, Koltyn Keller, Paisley Keller, Alayna Kay, and Kolt Kay. She is further survived by her nephew, Rob Whiteaker, and her nieces, Wendy Whitfield and Amber Whiteaker. Georgene was preceded in death by her parents, Norris and Georgia Rathjen, her sons, Rodger and Stuart Richardson, her daughter, Rona Kay, and her nephew, Brett Whiteake and the love of her life Arlie Hawes
