Gertie L. Dockery Bland

Ogden - Gertie L. Dockery Bland passed away on January 17, 2013 in Roy. She was born February 5, 1937 in Buckner Arkansas the daughter of Calline Gantt and Darie Dockery. She lived in Lake Village, AK, Lawton, OK, Germany, Michigan and Oakland, CA. She married Royal Bland in Lawton, OK; later divorced.

Gertie was a member of New Zion Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, puzzles, and Jazz basketball.

She is survived by her son, Kenny Bland; brother, Olies (Mary) Dockery; 5 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Wade Dockery and sisters, Thelma Tucker and Silver Clark.

Special thanks to her niece, Sheila Tucker and to all the doctors and nurses at McKay Dee Hospital , Heritage Park and Liberty Dialysis; also to Hospice for Utah, especially Brooke and Chaplain Kevin Bond. Thanks also to all of her friends at Three Links Tower and her faithful companion, Honey Bun.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. A viewing for friends and family will be held on Wednesday, January 23rd from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 to 10:55 a.m. Interment at the Ogden City Cemetery.
