Gladys Davis Saunders Obituary (1911 - 2003)

Gladys Davis Saunders OGDEN - Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt and sister-in-law, Gladys Davis Saunders, passed away Saturday evening Nov 8, 2003 surrounded by her loving family. She was born Aug 13, 1911 in Wilson Lane to William Horace (Harry) Davis and Vilate Hogge Davis. She was educated in Wilson Lane and Weber County. On Sept 14, 1929 she married the love of her life, Frederick Ferrin (Fred) Saunders in Ogden, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. Together they spent over 56 years enjoying fishing, camping, traveling, sight-seeing, raising their family and mainly loving each other. He passed away Jan 21, 1985 leaving her for almost 19 very lonely years. She was a wonderful mother. Mom was always a very hard worker, working in the fields and at Shupe Williams Candy Co. She was a spotless housekeeper and always kept her house and yard immaculate. She was an active member in the 15th and 62nd Ward in her younger years, teaching primary and visiting teaching for the church. Surviving are her children, three sons and one daughter, Darrell E. (Frieda) Saunders, Centerville; Marvin D. (LuJuana) Saunders, Roy; Darlene S. (John) Dodge, Ogden; Dale L. (Beth) Saunders, Taylor; and daughter-in-law Evelyn A. Saunders, Ogden; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters, four brothers, two sons and one daughter, Frederick LaVar (Zeke) Saunders, Wayne LaMar Saunders and baby girl Saunders whom she never got to see or hold until now. I'm sure there is a wonderful reunion in heaven right now.
