North Ogden, Utah
Glenn Carver Hill entered this world on February 4, 1948, in
Ogden, Utah. He was the 11th child, born to his parents James
Hill Sr. and Flossie Hill. He was raised up in the Ogden
Pentecostal Church. He was a quiet child who grew into a
handsome young man. He graduated from Ogden High
School in 1965. After graduating from High School, he
attended Weber State College for approximately two years.
In 1968 he met Alfreda Daniels who he later married.
Alfreda and Glenn brought two sons, Derrick Hill and
Dupriest Hill into the world. After Alfreda and Glenn
divorced, he met Caroline Faye Mills, and they brought a
daughter, Amber Hill, into the world. Subsequently after
Glenn and Faye separated, Glenn met Eddy Lee Shelton, and
together they brought a son, Savone Hill and daughter
Takiyah Hill into the world. Glenn also fathered Quinton
Dobbins and took part in raising five additional
stepchildren: Marquis Baker, Marcus Baker, Shanae Sanders,
Marcus Sanders (deceased), and Lorell Sanders
Glenn worked different jobs early on, and finally he was hired
by the Clearfield Thiokol Job Corps as a Counselor. Later he
worked for Volvo White Trucking Company where he finally
retired due to health issues.
Glenn loved the Lord and as a tribute, took every occasion
to sing gospel songs in the churches with His Friends Cecil
Smith, Lorenzo Bell and Gerod Sawyer. Glenn was a health
nut who loved to go fishing and had an uncanny ability to
make friends and people laugh. Close friends and family
affectionately called him “CAPTAIN”. They recognized his gift
of encouragement and his ability to make every person he
met feel like family. Glenn was a man of the community
who everyone knew and loved for his generous spirit and
open-door policy at his home in Ogden. Glenn loved people
and found enjoyment in group fellowship and enjoyment
with friends and family. Glenn would often see a less
fortunate person or a person in need and adopt them and
feed them from his own table. Glenn loved to be by the
water fishing and camping and would share endless
hilarious and sometimes embellished campsite stories to
keep all in his presence entertained and relaxed.
Glenn is survived by the following siblings: Mae Glynn,
Carlise Hill, Leontra Hill, Sherman Hill, many grandchildren,
daughter/son-in laws, cousins, nephews and nieces.
Glenn was proceeded in death by the following family
members and close friends that have already fallen asleep
in Christ: James Hill Sr., Flossie Hill, James Hill, Nathaniel
(Pete) Hill, Carl Hill, Francis Truman Hill, Cecil Hill, James Hill, Charles Hill, and
many others.
