Grace Mooney

OGDEN - Grace LaRue Mooney, 79, was reunited with her eternal mate on Tuesday, November 11, 2003. Grace was born in Fountain Green, Utah on September 10, 1924 to Niels William and Matilda B. Sorensen. She married Peter John Mooney on Oct 27, 1943 in Provo, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Pete died on November 20, 1997.

Grace was a loving mother who was active in her Church, holding several positions over the years. She worked a couple of short stints at Defense Depot Ogden, and at J.C. Penney Co., but for the most part was a very dedicated stay at home mom. After her children were grown, she worked for 14 years by her husband's side as custodians at the Mound Fort LDS Ward. Together, they carried out those responsibilities above and beyond the call on duty.

Mom and Dad were avid square dancers, and Mom kept in regular contact with "The Lunch Bunch". Together, Mom and Dad loved to travel. Mom was a passionate reader, and acquired a vast knowledge of history, different cultures and especially the scriptures. Mom could (and would) discuss at length anything with anyone on any of the above subjects. (You'd better have had your facts straight, because she certainly did.) Mom was a cook unsurpassed by anyone, and so enjoyed embroidery and needlework.

Grace adored her kids as well as her grand and great grandchildren. She loved to laugh, she loved the Lord, and she will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Surviving are one son and two daughters, Kent (Suzanne) Mooney of Ogden; Karla (Paul) Ellsworth of Pleasant View; and Kathy (Brent) Blakeley of Ogden; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters, one brother, one great granddaughter, and one great grandson.
