Gun Birgith (Gwen) Johansson Wheelwright 1935 - 2011 Click here to listen to Funeral Recording Ogden -Gun Birgith (Gwen) Johansson Wheelwright passed away peacefully on February 20, 2011. She was born on October 8, 1935 to the parents of Gunnar and Bertha Ekeroth Johansson in Halmstad, Sweden. At the age of 16 years she converted and was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she was a devoted member her entire life. In May of 1954, she left her beloved family and country and immigrated to the United States to marry the "dashing" young missionary who she had met while he was serving a LDS mission in Sweden. On July 14, 1954 she married Hal W. Wheelwright in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. She was an active member in the church and held many positions. She served 25 years in the Primary organization; including Primary President. During the summer she loved to spend time with family at their home on Bear Lake. She enjoyed embroidering, crocheting, and had the most beautiful handwriting. Everyone she met loved her "Swedish" accent. Her greatest joy was being a homemaker and a mother. She was always waiting for her children to come home from school and would have a batch of homemade treats waiting. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Hal and four children, Kim (Michael) Rosky, Paul (Brenda) Wheelwright, Nancy (Hop) Hopkins and Stephen (Jenny) Wheelwright; one sister, Ingrid Knutsson and one brother Lars Johansson; 8 grandchildren, 1 step-grandson who all lovingly called her by her Swedish name for grandmother; Mormor (mother's mother) and Farmor (father's mother) and 1 great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. Family will meet with friends at the mortuary on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 from 6 - 8 p.m. and Thursday prior to the service from 11:40 a.m. - 12:40 p.m. Interment at Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1780 Combe Rd.
