Gwen Sorenson Nuttall Sleeman

CLEARFIELD -- Gwen Sorenson Nuttall Sleeman, 68, surrounded by her family, returned to her Father in Heaven on December 1, 2008 due to a short illness.

She was born March 5, 1940 in Logan, Utah to John Elwood Sorenson and Ella Larson Sorenson. She was raised and educated in Logan and graduated from Logan High.

She was married and sealed to Robert Nuttall on June 24, 1960 in the Logan LDS Temple. After their marriage they lived in Logan, then moved to Smithfield where they lived for five years. After their four children were born they moved to Clearfield in l968. Robert passed away July 25, 1998 and on July 10, 2004 she married Doug Sleeman.

Gwen has worked at the Logan Knitting Mill as a buttonholer, at Thiokol as a secretary and 26 years as the secretary for the Clearfield Seminary, retiring on March 4, 2005.

She has served in many church positions, such as Sunday School secretary, Relief Society homemaking leader, Relief Society counselor, Primary counselor, Cub Scout den leader, Den Leader coach, Stake Cub Scout director, and teaching at the Commissioners College.

She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, crafts, gardening, canning, taking vacations, camping, and family talks around the kitchen table.

Surviving are her husband, Doug Sleeman; children, Trina Clemens, Mark and Becky Nuttall, Jeff and Julie Nuttall, Brian and Kim Nuttall, Robert and Mary Blackett, Gordon and Joan Sleeman, Mark and Lisa Scadden, Kelly and Fe Sleeman, Dixie Sleeman and Scott Sleeman; 25 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are Don and Margaret Sorenson, Ross and Margene Woodward, Marilyn Sorenson and Lonnie and Phyllis Kay. She was preceded in death by both parents and her first husband.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Clearfield 8th LDS Ward Chapel, 275 North 200 West. Family and friends may call Friday, December 5, from 6-8 p.m. at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West and on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at the church from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Clinton City Cemetery.
