Gyla Estelle Hamlin Obituary (1929 - 2008)

Gyla Estelle Hamlin HARRISVILLE - Gyla Estelle Hamlin, 78, died June 16, 2008. She was born September 17, 1929 in Avon, Utah to Leon John and Mabel Estella Summers Orton. She graduated from high school in Richmond and received a bachelors' degree from WSU. Gyla married David Clair Hirst October 4, 1947, later divorced. She married Dick Hamlin January 23, 1970; he died in 2004. Gyla was a member of the Historical Society and did the artwork for them in Mesquite, NV; a member of the Art Association and the Democratic Party. She was an avid quilter and painter; she liked to garden and with her green thumb could make anything grow. She is survived by her children Vicki (Jerry) Brooks, Craig Hirst and Holly Hirst; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings Beverly Gillis, John Orton and Esther Mae Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers; two sisters and a daughter. A special thanks to the staff at Ogden Regional Medical Center, also to Dr. Almony for his patience and care.
