Harless Eugene Ruley Click here to listen to Funeral Recording Harless, 83, who was normally called Gene, passed away on January 27, 2014. Gene was born on January 24, 1931in Sciotoville, Ohio. He was the second of nine children born to John and Lenora Ruley. He graduated from East High School in Sciotoville in 1948. He joined the U.S. Air Force in August 1948. He spent 10 years as an enlisted man; he then attended Officer Candidate School and retired in 1968 with the rank of Captain. He then worked for 28 years as a civil servant. While stationed at Hill AFB, Utah he met and married the love of his life, Bonnie Jean Chase. They were blessed with 5 sons. Their son, Mark, died suddenly at the age of 8 in 1967. Gene and Bonnie enjoyed their military life immensely, while stationed in Utah, Alaska, Sacramento, New Jersey and Colorado Springs. Gene's family was his number one love, and then came gardening and football. Gene is survived by his wife, Bonnie; sons, Stephen (Sherry), Douglas (Becky), Scott and Craig (Amanda); 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Also survived by his sister, Judy (Robert) and 2 brothers, John and Charles. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 12 to 12:45 p.m. Interment at Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, where military honors will be accorded.
