Harold Blaine Dickson, 92, passed away on November 8,2022 of natural causes. He was born May 16, 1930 to Sheldon and Mary Ellen Platt Dickson. He was raised in Riverdale along with his 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Harold graduated from Weber High School and joined the Army where he served for 2 years as a "tail gunner" on an M-1 rifle in the Korean War. He married Marjorie Fishburn on August 13, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. She passed away on January 25, 2010. On December 1, 2010, he married Betty Boekweg Wheeler. She passed away on June 17, 2016.
Harold was a most loving and kind man. He spent his lifetime serving others and loved doing it. He would jump at a moment's notice to help anyone who needed it. He loved his Heavenly Father and shared his beliefs by worthy example. ln 2018, he moved into Hidden Valley Assisted Living where he made many close friends and always responded with "dang good" when asked how he was doing. All of the residents and staff always expressed what a good, kind man he was and what joy he brought to the facility. The Family would like to express their gratitude for his excellent care.
He was employed at Mountain Bell, which later became Century Link, and retired in 1986 after 26 years of service. He was the "go to" trouble shooter and was always called in to restore central service on complex cases. After his retirement, he honed the woodworking skills inherited from his father. He spent many years creating beautiful home decorations, pieces of furniture for his grandkids and others.
He also made and sold items for 4 Sisters in Riverdale, including repairing customers antique furniture.
ln his later years, "Hal" took classes on woodcarving and carved many things from animals to western characters. He especially loved to carve with his good friend Steve Beenfield and spent many hours with him carving, visiting, watching Jazz games, and listening to Steve play the piano.
He also loved to tie flies, fly fish, golf, and tinker in his shop.
Harold's mind was always working and he became known in his family as the "revamper" because he would always try to change the things he bought to make them better. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it did not but he would never give up. He had an abundance of ingenuity and could figure out how to fix just about anything.
