LAYTON - Hedy Dicus, 96, passed away on the 5th of August 2024. She was born the only child in Wiesbaden, Germany, on the 17th of October 1927. She met the love of her life, Franklin Dicus while he was serving a tour with the military in Germany. They were soon married and had a family of seven. Hedy loved her children and grandkids, especially during family get togethers as she always prepared a feast. Franklin preceded her in death on the 23rd of October 2004.
Surviving are their children, Bill (Linda) Dicus, Olympia Washington, Jim (Kim) Dicus, Yelm Washington, Dave (Carol) Dicus, Layton Utah, Galen Dicus, Layton Utah, Cindy Weiser, Madison Wisconsin, Mary (Mike) Abrahamson, Vergennes Vermont, and Patty Dicus Curry, Layton Utah. Patty served as the primary caretaker for Hedy in her later years and loved her more than imaginable as did Hedy in return. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
Hedy's greatest joy in life was cooking and feeding others. Having grown up in Germany during difficult times, never having much, she was extremely pleased to share a meal with others. Hedy was a tremendous cook and spent her entire career doing such, retiring from civil service for the Air Force. Hedy also loved spending time with her grandchildren, they loved it too, there would always be treats. Everyone was more than welcomed in her home, no one ever left hungry!
Hedy had a giant heart and anyone that crossed paths would say they were blessed to have known her. You would have never met a more loving and kinder person as Hedy. Hedy will truly be missed and a private ceremony will be conducted in her honor.
