Helen Irene (Reed) Murray Obituary (1925 - 2022)

Our sweet Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, Irene Reed Murray, died on February 3, 2022 at age 95. Irene was born on July 17, 1927 in Clearfield Utah to George Hawley and Irene Hatch Reed. She was a graduate of Davis High School and worked at the Defense Depot in Ogden Utah. Irene was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She married Arthur Leon Murray Jr. in Elko Nevada and later had their marriage solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple. Mom and Dad lived many wonderful years in Eden, Utah on their farm and had many cherished friends from their years in the Ogden Valley. They later relocated in Riverdale Utah. Mom will always be known for her skills as a gardener. She had a special talent for growing beautiful flowers and plants and loved to spend time working in her greenhouse and with the soil. She loved doing handwork crafts as well. Her greatest happiness came from being with her family and friends. She kept all cards, letters, pictures and loved to reminisce about those she loved. We will miss sharing family gatherings, eating great food, teasing her about her collection of decorative ceramic roosters and trying to best her in a game of Chinese checkers! She is survived by her son Arthur Ross (Lorna) Murray and daughter Cindy (Mark) Dawson, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur L. Murray, son-in-law Grant Maybury, grandson Jordan Murray, brothers Kenneth, Hawley, Max, and Bob Reed, as well as her sister Marjorie Reed Hawks. It is comforting for us to think of the heavenly reunions being held with her as she is no longer weighed down with the challenges and frailties of mortality. We would like to offer sincere gratitude to many Hospice, Visiting Angel and Meals on Wheels friends who helped us care for Mom over the past few years. They assisted us in allowing Mom to live in her home independently until she was 92. Thanks also to the care givers at Sunridge Assisted Living in Roy for the care given the past several months of her life. Funeral services for Irene will be held at 12 noon on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT, with a viewing prior from 11 to 11:45 am.
