Henry Leland ''Red'' Hansen Obituary (1906 - 2004)

"TOGETHER AGAIN" HENRY L. HANSEN BRIGHAM CITY - Henry Leland "Red" Hansen, beloved husband, uncle, relative and friend, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at Country Lane Assisted Living in Brigham City, UT. Red was born on October 31, 1906 in Brigham City, UT to Edward Ludvig and Caroline Nelson Hansen. On July 4, 1935 he married his sweetheart of 67 years, Connie Erdmann. They were married in their home by their life long friend, Henry Nielson. Red was reared and educated in Brigham City, Utah. Besides his beloved Connie, Red most loved his garden and orchard where he spent many hours tenderly caring for his vegetable and fruit trees. As a youth, he worked for the Knudsen Fruit Farm where he eventually acquired the home and large lot that he and Connie enjoyed for 65 years before moving to Peach Tree Assisted Living. Red worked most of his life for Baron Woolen Mills, retiring from there in 1970. Sports was also one of his great loves. He played basketball and later was on the bowling team both for Baron Woolen Mills. In later life, he took up golf and thoroughly enjoyed playing the game with his nephew and pal, Jay Vard. He was an avid "Utah Jazz Fan", never missing a game on television. Red and Connie loved to travel and to try new things. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie and his parents, five brothers; Edward, William, Anton, Martin and Arthur and by three sisters; Rose, Florence and Mable. Surviving are Jay Vard and Peggy Hansen, Tremonton, and many nephews and nieces. A special thanks to Melanie, Lisa, Joe, Will and the staff at Country Lane Assisted Living Center for the kindness and love they so generously have shown to both Henry and Connie. Also to Hospice for the many hours spent lovingly caring for Henry. Services will be held Saturday, July 10, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, UT. Friends may call from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. at the Mortuary. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
