Herald Ossmen Homer Obituary (1932

HERALD OSSMEN HOMER CLINTON - Loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, Herald Ossmen Homer passed away on July 18, 2001 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 6, 1932 in Provo to Brigham Ezra and Hannah Leona Ossmen Homer. He attended Davis High School and Weber State College. Herald married Betty Mary Hartley on January 16, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Herald retired from Hill Air Force Base where he worked in Logistics. He was also working as a guard at Freeport Center. He served in the United States Air Force Reserve at Hill Air Force Base from October 25, 1950 - October 24, 1953. He was a member of the Clinton 1st Ward. He was an Eagle Scout and Scout Leader. He was active as a Home Teacher, Ward and Stake Librarian, Ward Clerk, Executive Secretary, Sunday School Superintendent, High Priest Group Leader, Ward and Stake Missionary and several teaching positions. He had been a member of the West Point City Planning Commission and served as chairman thereof. He also served on the Board of Adjustment for the city of West Point. Herald was preceded in death by his parents, brother, two half sisters and half brother. He is survived by his wife, Betty, four daughters, Cherie (Russell E.) Knotts, Brigham City; Tanya Homer, Centerville; Nedra Dee (Russell K.) Ipson, Phoenix, AZ; Heather (Kevin S.) Rogers, Pleasant View; two sons, ElRay Homer, Clearfield; Herald Kevin (DeAnn) Homer , West Point; also surviving are 15 grandchildren; four sisters; Merle Peratis, Verna Gridley, both of Salt Lake City; Mary Phillips, Glendale, CA; Shirley Meservy, Provo; and a brother, Cecil B.
