H. Dean Woodall Obituary (1925 - 2006)

H. Dean Woodall ROY - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather returned to his Heavenly Father on November 4, 2006 surrounded by his eternal companion and his loving family after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease. Dean was born January 26, 1925 in Burley, ID to Lewis and Hazel Groves Woodall. In 1943 he enlisted in the Army Air Corp and served in WWII. During his time in the army he meet his future wife, Abbigail Purser. On September 25, 1946 they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple by Apostle, Mathew Cowley. They resided in Burley ID. In Burley he drove trucks for Orange and then Garrett Freightlines for many years. In 1961 they settled their family in Roy, UT. Dean was employed as a carpenter and then as a truck driver for Westinghouse/Phillips Lighting from 1964-1991. His proudest achievement during his career was his safety record. Dean also enjoyed woodworking, doing projects for the ward and special toys and doll houses for his grandchildren. He was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as a faithful home teacher, Elder's Quorum President and a ward clerk in the Roy 3rd Ward. His unending service to the ward widows and others will always be remembered. He is survived by his wife, children, Louis (Linda) Woodall of Layton; Randy (Pam) Woodall of Roy; JoAnn (Lyn) Olney of Providence; Susan (Norm) Swallow of Kaysville; Jane (Jon) Ritchie of Roy. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren with two on the way. Dean was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William (Bill) Woodall and Richard (Dick) Woodall; and sister, Josephine Parish.
