Hiro Nagao Obituary (1921 - 2006)

CALIFORNIA - Hiro Nagao, 85 passed away peacefully in his sleep in Salinas, California on June 13, 2006. He was born June 4, 1921 in Honeyville, Utah. Hiro served in the U.S. Army during World War II then continued to live and work in Utah until July 1971 when he moved his family to Fresno, CA. The Nagao family was one of five hundred families who relocated to the new facility of the Internal Revenue Service. He worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Fresno, CA for thirty years before retiring at age 79. Hiro loved bowling and traveling to relax and gamble. Hiro and his wife Jeanne were members of the Fresno Buddhist Church. He became ill and moved to Salinas in August 2005. Hiro is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jeanne of Salinas, CA; daughters, Gloria Gieg of Salinas, CA and Julie Thompson of Atascadero, CA; sons, Rex Nagao of Germantown, TN, and Michael Nagao of Fresno, CA; sister, Fumi Koga of Ogden, UT; brothers Koji Nagao of Honeyville, UT; and Tom Nagao of Brigham City, UT and four grandchildren. Graveside services will be Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 12 Noon at the Honeyville Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, UT.
