Hyrum Pete Kellos Obituary (1907 - 2004)

Hyrum "Pete" Kellos OGDEN - The greatest gift we ever had came from God, we call him Dad. Hyrum "Pete" Kellos, son of John and Carrie Kellos joined his eternal sweetheart February 3, 2004. He and Loretta were married May 12, 1937, later solemnized in the Logan L.D.S. Temple. Loretta passed from this life December 3, 2000 leaving him heartbroken and lonely. He was born August 14, 1907 in Ogden, Weber, Utah. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a member of The Gardens 1st Ward. He was always there with a helping hand or a word of encouragement throughout his life. He was a well-respected brick mason for over 62 years. At the age of 93 he laid the first brick on his grandson's house and taught him how to build pillars on his porch. Dad assisted President N. Eldon Tanner and President Joseph Fielding Smith in placing the Ogden Temple cornerstone September 7, 1970. He had a twinkle in his eyes, and a jovial laugh as he would tease his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are sons, Darold Jay (Mary Lou) Kellos, Robert (LaRae) Kellos; daughters, Barbara Jean Ferguson, Helen Mickelson, Dawna Ray Kellos; one brother, Elwood (Dorothy) Kellos; and one sister, Elsie Robinson. There are 24 grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren.
