Idella Whitaker Nielsen Obituary (1924 - 2015)

Idella B. Whitaker Nielsen Idella B. Whitaker Nielsen passed away Monday, March 2, 2015. She was born January 15, 1924 in Tremonton, Utah to Charles and Winifred Barnes Barfuss, the fifth of twelve children. She married Shirley J. Whitaker in Tremonton, Utah on December 24, 1946. He later passed away. She married Dean Floyd Nielsen on January 19, 1991. She was a 1942 graduate of Bear River High School. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as Librarian for many years and worked in singles group a long time. Idella worked for IRS for 20 years and Thiokol for 10 years and retired in 1986. She was president of the VFW Veterans of Foreign Wars. She loved scrapbooking. She is survived by her children: Roger B. (Marie) Whitaker, Kristine (Dave) Crockett, Ivan (Linnea) Whitaker and Colin Whitaker, daughter-in-law Edith Whitaker, 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are six brothers. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, one son Ward Whitaker, one grandson Lenny, three sisters and two brothers. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 6, 2015 at 12 noon at the Roy 11th Ward, 4250 South 2175 West, Roy. A viewing will be held Thursday at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment, Brigham City Cemetery.
