Ilka Hannelore Matthews Obituary (1957 - 2005)

Ilka Matthews FARR WEST - Ilka Hannelore Matthews, age 47, returned peacefully to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, January 11, 2005, at her home with family and friends at her side. She fought a hard courageous battle with cancer, with a never give up spirit. She was born May 12, 1957 in Cincinnati, OH to Ralph and Ursula Breuer. She served in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman where she met her partner for life. She married Joseph Matthews on November 3, 1979 in Virginia Beach, VA. Ilka was the owner of Aquatic Adventures, a scuba diving shop in Farr West. She loved every minute of the six years she was owner, until she was no longer able to run the business. Surviving are her husband, Joseph "Joe" Matthews, three sons, Jason, Nathan and Ryan, all of Farr West. Also her loving grandson Dominic, who was always able to put a smile on her face, and three brothers, Hanns, Kurt and Rolf Breuer. She was preceded in death by her mother Ursula, her father Ralph, and her sister Monica Breuer. She was a friend to everyone and everyone who knew her loved her. She lived her life to serve her husband and her sons, always doing for others before herself. We will all miss this sweet lady dearly. We love you Ilka.
