IMA LEE GRAY WATTS
BRIGHAM CITY - Ima Lee Gray Watts passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2004, at her home at the age of 79.
She was born February 16, 1925 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. The only child of Edgar O. Gray and Ima Gregson Gray.
In February 1945 she joined the Women's Army Corp., where she worked as a clerk of the 71st WAC Hospital Company. While enlisted, she met an airplane mechanic named Ellis Watts. They were married in San Antonio, Texas on December 13, 1945.
They both received honorable discharges from Military Service in December of 1945 and moved to Gary, Indiana. Together they had one daughter, Donna Lee.
In 1962 they moved to Montpelier, Idaho. And a year later moved to Brigham City, UT where they lived together until Ellis passed away on February 13, 1994. She remained living in their home and was kept company by her "Baby" dog, and her wonderful and caring friend, Dean and his dog "Sam".
Ima worked at the Intermountain Indian school as a counselor and housemother, helping many Native American youth for 12 years.
She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, cooking and loved to read. She was very well educated, honest, and had a great sense of humor. She will always be remembered for her "firecracker" personality and the wonderful stories she always shared.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Green Steward and Donna's husband L.D.
Two grandchildren, Heather (Terry) Wells, Willard; and Heath (Kristi) Green, Brigham City; and four great-grandchildren, Sharlene and Richard Wells; and Treavor and Tai Green. She is also survived by her special friend, Dean Castle, Brigham City.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Alpine Home Health Care for their skilled and loving care of Ima and for patiently teaching us. Also the Doctor's and staff at Kootenai Hospital in Coeur d'Alene, ID, for their thorough care while she was away from home. Thanks to the staff of the Med Star flight team that brought her home to us, and the Brigham City Ambulance for their considerate care in transporting her. A special thanks to Dr. Markeson for years of being her favorite doctor.
