Irene Olson Stam

Irene Olson Stam, 90, died 23 June 2012. She was born August 5, 1921, in Smithfield, Utah, a daughter of Leonard and Lenora Merrill Olson. She was educated in Cache County schools and graduated from Utah State University in 1942.
She moved to Ogden, Utah in 1942 and taught school in North Ogden from 1943-1944. She worked 35 years for the U.S. Forest Service, Intermountain Forest and Range Experiment Station in Ogden, retiring in 1978.
She volunteered as a nurse's aide during World War II. She served in various capacities in wards and stakes where she resided in Sunday school, primary, and MIA organizations of the LDS Church.
Married Marion A. (Mern) Pope September 18,, 1942 in Logan LDS Temple. He later died. Married Abe Lincoln Muir September 6, 1947 in Ogden, Utah. He later died. Married Leslie C. West May 1, 1964 in Pleasant View, Utah. He later died. Married William E. (Gene) Burt March 16, 1979 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were later divorced. Married Govert Gary Stam January 3, 1984 in Farmington, Utah. He died July 31, 2003.
She is survived by daughter, Ranae Muir Staffanson (Neil F.), Kaysville, and six grandchildren: Derek N. Staffanson (Sara), Salt Lake City; Brian J. Staffanson (Annettte), Hyrum; Julie Jensen (Brian), Kaysville; Amy Nicolas (Eric), Las Vegas, NV; Kari Staffanson, Boston, MA; and Haylee Rhoades (Cody), Layton; 20 great grandchildren; two stepsons: Marinus G. Stam, Florida; and Richard C., Arizona; and a sister-in-law, Joan Olson. Preceded in death by parents and three brothers.
Graveside services will be Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. in the Smithfield City Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden prior to interment.
