DeLoris Dorius Obituary (1940 - 2023)

DeLoris Dorius July 13, 1940 - December 12, 2023 Iretta DeLoris (Peters) Dorius passed away suddenly on December 12, 2023, at her home in Perry, Utah. She was born July 13, 1940, in Fresno, California to Edward Lloyd Peters and Dona Blanche Waters. DeLoris grew up in California and graduated from Cubberley High School in Palo Alto, California where she was a high school cheerleader and a member of the tennis club. DeLoris was proud of being a California girl. DeLoris valued education and she earned an Associate Degree from Brigham Young University and followed in her sisters footsteps and participated in the social group, TaKalon. She loved her time at the 'Y' where she met many good friends, including her husband, Dale M. Dorius on a blind date. DeLoris and Dale were married on August 25, 1967, in the Salt Lake City Temple by Spencer W. Kimball. They were blessed with five children, Dona (David) Barlow of Alpine; Jennifer (Nick) Reyes (Perry, UT); Darci (Jacob) Linares (Stockton, UT); Dru (Melissa) Dorius (Ogden, UT); and Dallin Dorius (Winter Park, Florida); Grandchildren: Tanner (Raina) Linares, Emily Barlow, Jackson Barlow, Ashlyn Reyes, Samantha Linares, Rachel Barlow, Tyler Linares, Kelton Reyes, Kadyn Reyes, Brielle Dorius and Ezra Dorius; Great-Granddaughter: Adalee Linares. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many positions including as Secretary in the Sunday School and Relief Society. DeLoris enjoyed attending the Manti, Utah temple and diligently performed record extraction work to enable ordinances to be performed for the individuals who passed away without those blessings being accomplished. DeLoris assisted Dale with the bookkeeping for his law practice for over fifty years and had impeccable secretarial skills. She loved to travel with Dale and her family, taking a trip every summer and Christmas with others in between. She took many trips with her family to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She loved to travel to Hawaii and with the BYU Cougar Club. DeLoris enjoyed going to Disneyland during the holidays to see the festive decorations with her favorite Disney pastimes being riding the Toy Story Mania ride to try and beat the best score recorded and playing skee ball to earn Disney stuffed animal characters which she often gave to her grandchildren. DeLoris was very kindhearted and was always silently serving her family, especially doting on Dale, who she loved so very much. DeLoris and Dale, eternal companions, could not wait to be reunited and DeLoris passed away in less than three weeks after Dale. Although there is immense sadness that DeLoris is no longer with us on Earth, there is comfort in knowing she experienced extreme joy in her heavenly reunion with her dear husband, parents, sisters, and other relatives that have passed. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Perry Stake Center located at 685 West 2250 South, Perry, Utah. Friends may visit with family from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services. We invite those who knew and loved DeLoris to join us as we celebrate her life and honor her memory.
