ALENE NIELSON

Irma "Alene" Henderson Nielson passed away January 23, 2006 after struggling with kidney failure and congestive heart failure for the last ten years. She was fortunate to receive a kidney transplant in 1996 from an unknown donor. She was able to live for almost ten years because of that compassionate and unselfish gift.

Alene was born in Sutherland, Utah, November 6, 1929, daughter of John Carner Henderson and Irma Lang Tuckfield. Her mother passed away when she was 13 and she moved to Ogden with her sister Beth. She graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1948. On March 31, 1950 she married Calvin Nielson. They had three children, Janette (Ted) Layne, Brent (Connie) Nielson and Larry (Julie) Nielson and later divorced.

She worked at Roosevelt Elementary School in the school lunch program and The Ogden L.D.S. Temple.
She loved the Lord and was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved and cherished the members of the Washington Terrace 5th and Riverdale 4th Wards. After her failed health she moved to Chancellor Gardens in Clearfield and resided there for 3 A 1/2 years.

She is survived by her children and 12 grandchildren, 13 1/2 great-grandchildren, two sisters Colleen (Byron) Orton, and Pat Jensen.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, two sisters and one grandson.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Chancellor Gardens and the kindness shown at Life-Care Center in Bountiful, where she passed away, after a short stay there.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 28, 2006 at 1 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Roy, 5865 South 1900 West, where family and friends may call on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. prior to services.
Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
