Isabel Read Taintor left this earthly existence on January 27, 2014 and reunited with her husband Bob, parents and many other loved ones who have passed on before her. Isabel was born to Albert E. Read and Harriett Jones Read on December 29, 1919 in Ogden, Utah. She was blessed to have four brothers: Boyd, Keith, Miles and Frank, who all preceded her in death, as did a son-in-law, Bryan D. Gordon. Mom attended Mound Fort elementary and Jr. High School and was a member of the first graduating class of the new 1937 built Ogden High School on Harrison Boulevard. Mom also graduated with a degree in Home Economics from Weber College when it was located on 25th Street at that time. Isabel married her sweetheart Robert R. Taintor in the Salt Lake LDS Temple February 11, 1942. He died March 15, 1988.
Mom lived her entire life in Ogden where she and Bob raised their five children: Dianne (Wendell) Elmer, Jo (Randy) Petersen, Read (Merry) Taintor, Lou (Jeff) Teeples and Barbara (Ray) Jones. Her posterity includes 36 grandchildren; 84 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Mom was a wonderful homemaker and was a skilled seamstress. Mom loved to dance and in later years took up round dancing and square dancing with Bob. Her prized possession however was her and Bob's cabin in South Fork, truly a bit of heaven on earth.
A member of the LDS Church, Isabel served in many callings such as primary teacher, primary president and Relief Society president on two different occasions. She and Bob were called as Ogden Temple workers in 1985 and loved serving there for three years until Bob's death. Mom also spent many hours doing community service, volunteering at the Union Station and Golden Hours Center, where she made many friends. Isabel was always grateful for opportunities to serve and she taught the principle of service to her children by her example. We express our deep gratitude and love to Keith Birch, mom's good friend for the past twelve years, for his companionship and kindness to her.
