J. Douglas Post passed away on August 21, 2007 after a motor vehicle accident. He died next to wife Randy, whom he adored. They were partners in this life and they died together. He was born on August 8, 1946, the eldest son of Helen and Jacob Post.
He grew up in Ogden and graduated from Ben Lomond High schoolo. He enlisted in the Utah National Guard in 1965. Following his military commitment, and against all odds, he served a mission for the LDS church in the Fremch East mission. He married Randell Sue Furniss on May 14, 1970 in the Logan temple. He graduated from Weber State College with a bachelor's degree, majoring in counseling and French.
Throughout most of his life, Doug was a member of the United States Air Force Reserve. He was deployed to Iraq in 2004, where he served honorably.
Doug enjoyed building, and believed he could make anything. He instilled this indefinable quality in each of his children. He also loved the French language and spoke it beautifully.
Doug loved the outdoors and felt closer to God in the mountains. He was an avid hiker and knew the trails surrounding the Ogden area like his own back yard. He loved to have his children go hiking with him, but would go alone if no one was available. He similarly loved camping and could cook in a dutch oven and make a campsite comfortable enough to almost convince Randy to like it too. He was active in scouting and saw that each of his six sons attained the rank of Eagle.
Doug had many passions in his life, but his greatest was his family. He was the proud father of six sons and two daughters. He worked his life away to support them and no sacrifice was too great for his children. His greatest satisfaction in life though was being a Grandpa. His grandchildren adored him almost as much as he adored them.
He is survived by his brothers, Dean and Donald, as well as his sister Marilee Anderson,
He is also survived by his children, Zach (Lori), Zeke (Rachel), Rael (Shelly), Jordan (Paul), Samantha (Andrew), Eli (Melissa), Simon (Alyssa) and Tony, as well as 11 grandchildren. They are his greatest success. His memory will inspire us forever.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Helen as well as brothers Delbert Post, Clayton Bowman, Darald Bowman, Dennis Bowman and sister, Connie Moss.
