Jack David Johnson
Uintah Highlands - Jack David Johnson (JD), 73, passed away Friday, December 7, 2012. He was born in Chicago, IL, on November 3, 1939, and moved to California as a young boy. He graduated Canoga Park High School in 1957 and promptly met the beautiful young woman he would spend the rest of his life with, Dolores J. Thomas. They were married November 25, 1959 in Canoga Park, California.
In 1967 Jack moved his young family to Ogden and started working for the Ogden City Fire Department, where in later years, he was affectionately known as "Paw." Jack was proud to be a "brother" for 26 A 1/2 years, serving in the Ogden City Fire Department until he retired in 1993. Also in 1993, Jack completed the ACT Alcohol Recovery program and stayed sober until the day he died.
After retiring, for the next seven years, he and Dolores became the caretakers of Sourdough Wilderness Ranch. Jack was an avid fisherman, hunter, and golfer. He loved working with wood and collecting his tools, and going to Wendover.
He is survived by his amazing wife, Dolores; and four children, Luanna (Russell) Moon, Jolene (Richard) Lloyd, Delight (Melvin) Goich, and Seth Johnson; eight grandchildren, Zachary (Mie) Goich, Daniel Moon, Michael Goich, Lindsay Lloyd, Courtney Moon, Emilee Lloyd, Morea Lloyd, and Heston Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Takumi and Kaito Goich.
We, Jack's family, want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Crestwood Care Center and to Dr. Michael Woolman, his physician and friend for 30 years, for the amazing care and love they gave to Jack. He would always tease and say Crestwood was his "second home."
