James Lee Toomer

WEST POINT - James Lee Toomer, 61, Loving husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away peacefully September 15, 2007 after a brave fight with cancer.

Jim was born May 23, 1946 to Joseph Irwin Toomer and Venona Payne Dallof in Ogden, Utah.

He married Marilyn Thurgood on May 17, 1967 in Roy, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple in 1974.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He served in the U.S. Marines Reserves for six years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, photography and working in his yard alongside his wife.
He was courageous, optimistic, jovial person who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Jim is survived by his wife Marilyn; his daughters Vicki (Steven) Singleton, Toni Peck, Jodi (Brian) Cunningham, Becki (Brandon) Whitehead, Shelli (Jason) Stillman, his son Blake Toomer and 16 grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers Gary (Ruth) Toomer, William (Tamara) Toomer, Ric Toomer and sisters Lila (Ronald) Hodson and Linda (Fred) Fattouch.

Jim was preceded in death by his daughter Nicki, parents and grandparents.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the West Point Lakeside Stake Center, 800 North 4000 West, West Point. Friends and family may call Wednesday at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
