ALICIA T. EVANS

CLINTON - Jane Alicia Toomer Evans, 87, Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother and friend passed from this mortal existence on May 4, 2002 at Rocky Mountain Care Center in Clearfield, Utah.

She came into this world on January 21, 1915 in Round Valley (Morgan) Utah. She was the oldest child of James H. and Lucy May Toomer.

On April 15, 1931 she married Charles Edward (Ed) Evans in Clinton, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple on April 15, 1975.

She spent most of her married life in the family home in Clinton, Utah. In her younger years she helped on the farm while she raised four sons and a daughter. The produce that they raised was sold on the Salt Lake market where she was affectionately named the "Watermelon Queen".

Mom was an avid fisherman. She would take many of her grandchildren and teach them the fine art of fishing. She spent many happy hours on the streams and lakes of Utah and Idaho. We are sure there were many fish that gave a sigh of relief when she finally gave up fishing. She was a loving person and kind to all. She always had a kind word and smile for everyone. We don't think she ever met a person that she was not able to win over and consider a friend. Mom never said an unkind word about anyone.

She is survived by her sons: Richard Neil (Mary) Evans, Charles Edward (Carolyn) Evans III, Dennis D. (Janet) Evans, Ralph Nolan (Nancy) Evans. She leaves a posterity of 25 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She is also survived by a brother, Phillip Toomer, and sisters, Lucille Hess, Pearl Allen and Ivaloo Lund.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Evans and daughter, Caryl Louise Reney, her parents and four brothers and three sisters.

The family wishes to give its appreciation to the caregivers at Chancellor Gardens, and Rocky Mountain Care Center, for the love and attention they gave to her.
