Jean Pledger

–

Roy, Utah

Our beloved aunt, Jean Skeen Pledger passed away peacefully on June 17, 2024, at the Sunridge Assisted Living Center in Roy. Jean was born on March 6, 1935, eight minutes before her "wombmate" Joan in Ogden, Utah. The twins were the youngest of the eight children of Wilford and Mayme Musgrave Skeen. She grew up in Plain City, Utah, graduating from Weber County High School in 1953.
Aunt Jean married and moved to the Midwest living in several states before settling in Danville, Arkansas with her husband Clarence Pledger. Arkansas is where she found her cute southern drawl and unique phrases that made us laugh. She loved Arkansas, especially her adopted Arkansas family Gina and Jan Lipe. In Danville Jean owned a jewelry store and later worked for the Department of Agriculture, retiring after 28 years of service.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and while in Danville she became affiliated with the Methodist Church where she played the organ and was active in the Danville Music Club. After Clarence's death and her retirement, she moved back to Utah to be close to her family. Family has always been Aunt Jean's top priority and she was able to care for two of her brothers and her twin sister Joan before their deaths.
Aunt Jean loved people. She had a giant heart and enjoyed meeting and visiting with family, friends and neighbors. She was witty and had a dry sense of humor. Aunt Jean loved to sew and shared her talents with family and various charities. She enjoyed puzzles, playing cards and was the expert in our family card game Canasta. She was the favorite of her many nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers, Jim (Clara), Don (JeNeal), Clyde (Lorraine), Thayne (Carolyn) and Russell and two sisters, Louise (Melvin) Kelly, and Joan (Jack) Young.
The family would like to thank the Sunridge Assisted Living Center Staff and the many friends she made there. We so appreciate the Roy 6th Branch, the Presidency and Relief Society who took such good care of her. We would like to thank her niece, Debbie Skeen, for her love and total support during the last few months of her life. We also owe a huge debt of gratitude to Cascade Springs Hospice, especially Maggie and Amber, who helped us so much during the last few weeks.
Graveside services will be held Monday, June 24, 2024, at the Plain City Cemetery, 4373 W. 1975 No. at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30 - 10:15 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT. A recording of the graveside service is available below.
