Jeanette Maria Overdiek Bushman
September 20, 1959 ~ April 18, 2019

Jeanette Maria Overdiek Bushman of North Ogden, 59, passed away Thursday, 18 April at the McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden. She fought bravely in the ICU for 18 days before succumbing to severe acute pancreatitis and associated organ failures. She drew her last breaths surrounded by her loving husband, all her children, and her five oldest grandchildren.

Jeanette was born 20 September 1959 in Ogden, Utah, to Robert Overdiek and Josepha Hooft, both recent immigrants from Holland. She married the love of her life, her best friend and partner, K. John Bushman, in the Salt Lake Temple on 12 June 1981. She lived in Weber County her entire life.

Jeanette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister. She was quick to give compliments and always made sure everyone knew how much she loved them. She was genuine and unpretentious, one who would tell you like it was, but was always quick to forgive and forget. She had a vibrant personality and fun sense of humor. Even when she knew she was living her last moments on Earth, she spent them lifting others up, and making everyone feel special. When she reached the moments where she could no longer speak, she spent her last bit of energy comforting those around her and making her family laugh through her articulate facial expressions and through her handwritten notes. We could go on and on about her kindness, generosity, and her warm welcoming way. You could sense how big Jeanette's heart was from a mile away.

Family was the most important thing to her. One of her last hospital notes was, "I am happy." That was because she was surrounded by family. She leaves behind many fun memories of camping and traveling with family, big and small. She was a 1978 graduate of Ben Lomond High School. Certified from the former Ogden Skills Center and attended Weber State College before beginning a career as a civilian for the Air Force at Hill AFB that she retired from in 2015. Many colleagues there loved her. She was a member of the North Ogden Mountain Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved the Lord and the Church and served in various positions, but always enjoyed teaching the children most.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her dear mother, Josepha Overdiek, in the same hospital less than three months before, also of an unexpected illness. They are together now. She was also preceded in death by her beloved father and dear father-in-law John T. Bushman, and a sister, Marion. She is survived by her husband, three sons - Daniel (Amber), Texas; Scott (Hannah), Ogden; Cody (Lindsey), Logan; and two daughters - Michelle (Tommy), Salt Lake City; and Keriann, North Ogden, a brother Ronald, sister Joyce and 7 grandchildren (one more on the way). She will also be greatly missed by many friends and nieces and nephews and other extended family members and the Bushman family. She made the world a better place.

The family would like to thank the doctors and medical staff at the McKay-Dee ICU who always treated Jeanette with dignity and respect and did their best to save her and make her comfortable.
