Jeffrey Furlong

–

Honeyville, Utah

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeffrey (Jeff) Douglas Furlong, affectionately known as Papa to his grandkids, on April 22, 2026. Born on January 16, 1957, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Jeffrey was a beloved figure in his community and a beacon of love, loyalty, and unwavering support to his family and friends. Jeff's thoughtful nature and dedication to those he loved will be deeply missed.

Jeff spent his childhood/teenage years in Stockton, California. He moved back to Brigham City, Utah, and graduated from Box Elder High School in 1975. Jeff married Kathy Smego on July 12, 1979, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they had 4 daughters. In June 2017, Kathy returned to her Heavenly home after a brave battle with breast cancer. In 2019, Jeff met and married Margie Hennemen in Morgan, Utah. They were sealed for time and eternity in the Brigham City Temple on December 27, 2019.

Jeff led a life of service, both in his career and in his personal life. He served in the Army National Guard for 23 years, demonstrating his deep loyalty and commitment to his country. He then dedicated 25 years of his life working as an IT Specialist for the Internal Revenue Service, earning the Department of U.S. Treasury Commissioner's Award in 2024. Jeff was also deeply involved in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as a temple worker, Gospel Doctrine Teacher, and Ward/Stake Historian. In his free time, Jeff loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He had a passion for shooting, fishing, exercising, and he had a special love for Yellowstone. His love for his family and church were the pillars that defined his life.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Furlong, mother, Jackie Furlong, and his late wife, Kathy.

Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Margie; his devoted daughters, Cori (Josh) Miskin, Rachel (Tim Sparrow) Furlong, Danielle (Thomas) Enlow, and Nicole (Samuel) Patterson; step-children, Cameron (Laura) Harper, Erin Harper, Kenneth Harper, Christine Harper, and Kelly Harper. He is also survived by his brother, Mark (Teri) Furlong, and sister, Lori (Troy) McCann; 9 grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Jeffrey's memory will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege to know him.
