Jerilyn "Jeri" Holmgren Baty Obituary (1937 - 2005)

HARPER WARD - Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt returned to her loving Heavenly Father on November 23, 2005 joining with family and friends. She was born on August 7, 1937, in Tremonton, Utah to Parley O. and Arvilla Anderson Holmgren, growing up in Bear River City, Utah. Jeri graduated from Box Elder High School and USU where she received her degree in Elementary Education. She was a dedicated school teacher for 26 years and an active member of ADK Sorority. She had the respect of many colleagues. Her former students would often express their appreciation to her for what she had taught them, thanking her for the interest she had shown in their lives. She married Max Leon Baty, May 29, 1959 in the Logan Temple. They made their home in Harper Ward, Utah. They are the parents of Kirk (Lynell) Baty, Middleton, Idaho; Kipp (Marylou) Baty, Harper Ward; Lisa Baty, South Jordan; Mark (Shalon) Baty, Harper Ward. Jeri was a peacemaker who rarely complained - just, "Digging in" and working hard, dedicated her life to her family. Beating her cancer diagnoses, she showed a great empathy for others. Mom's dedication in raising her family overflowed in the love she showed her grandchildren. With a lawn chair in tow, she rarely missed a rodeo, dance recital, ball game or piano recital, and she loved to read stories to her grandchildren. We won't forget those famous backyard parties where child and grandchild would practice racing to win the foot races at her beloved Bear River City 24th of July celebration. All who knew and loved her felt her love of Church, home, Country, family, friends, and students. Jeri showed great love for the gospel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as she gave service in many capacities. Her strong, loving testimony will continue in the hearts of many forever. Mom, Granny, we will miss your wit, big heart, and keen memory. Our lives were enriched by your contagious laughter and smile. She was preceded in death by her parents; Parley O. and Arvilla A. Holmgren; a brother, Pratt (Poose) Holmgren; and beloved grandson, Luke. Thank you Mom for unconditional love and wisdom. We love you dearly. Till we meet again. Surviving is her beloved husband, Max; children; eleven grandchildren; and her dog, ONO; her brother, Pete (Linda) Holmgren; her sister, Joyce (Jerry) Dahlberg, and many loving other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 28, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brigham City North Stake Center, 620 North 300 East, Brigham City. Friends may visit on Sunday November 27, 2005 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham city and on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Brigham City North Stake Center prior to services. Interment will be in the Calls Fort Cemetery, Harper Ward. In Lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the American Cancer Society.
