Jerry C. Brent, Msgt Obituary (1934 - 2009)

Jerry C. Brent MSgt. Layton - Our wonderful loving husband, father, grandfather and friend Jerry Brent, 75, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009 after a valiant fight with various illnesses, at McKay-Dee Hospital. He passed peacefully with his family by his side. He was born on January 25, 1934 in Hattiesburg, MS to Paul and Lela Brent; however he was raised by his wonderful step-father Arthur Grace. After graduating from Royal Street High School in Hattiesburg, MS he joined the Air Force where he dedicated 26 years of service to our country and retired with military honors. He was an active member of Second Baptist Church; where he served as a devoted Deacon faithfully. He loved to travel, watch sports and valued spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his loving and caring wife Velma; his step-father Arthur Grace ; brother A.V. (Ethel) Grace of AZ; children Roland Brent of AZ, Sherrie Brent of AZ, Glusta (Alvin) Hopkins of AZ, Irma Jeanisse of TX, Jason (Karli) Brent of UT, Alisa Brent of OR; also survived by his loving step-children Latrece (Peter) Macon of UT, Tracy (Ethel) Hunter of TX and Ronald (Angela) Bynum of AR; God-children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; uncles; aunts; nieces; nephews; cousins and friends who loved him very much. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Lela Brent and brother Charles Brent. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2009 at the Second Baptist Church, 227 27th Street, Ogden. Family and friends may also attend a viewing at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden on Thursday, April 23rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment, South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 South Park Avenue, Tucson AZ on Monday, April 27, 2009.
