Jerry Johnson

Gerald P. "Jerry" Johnson was born May 2, 1933, in Ogden, Utah, the son of Perry and Valorse Johnson. His father was founder of Johnson Ornamental Iron Co. In 1942 Jerry was reared and educated in Ogden. He was a combat vet of the Korean War in 1950 to 1952. He served with the 3rd and 25th Infantry Divisions and the 34th Regimental Combat Team in the occupation of Japan. He had fond memories of the time he spent there and the Japanese people.
Upon his return to the states, he was stationed at Camp Atterbury Indiana where he met his sweetheart, Linda Lee Clapper, at a church dance. They were married June 14, 1953, in Union City, Indiana.
Upon his return to Ogden he worked in the iron business with his father. Jerry was the founder of TEFCO of Utah, manufacturing TEFCO security doors at 120 9th St. in Ogden and enjoyed every minute he spent in his shop and the time with his customers.
In 1996 he retired to enjoy their new home in Pleasant View. He enjoyed fishing, traveling in their 5th wheel, shooting pool with Linda on Friday nights and the winters in their home in Las Vegas. They were married 52 years until Linda's untimely death in 2005. He married Barbara Scott in 2007.
Jerry was preceded in death by his loving wife Linda; father, Perry; mother, Valores Johnson; sons, Ray and Steven; brother, Steven Johnson.
He is survived by his daughter, Jana Johnson of Clearfield; sister, Jeanene Malan Pleasant View; grandsons, Steven Johnson of Pocatello, ID; and Kelly Ray Johnson of Salt Lake City.
Jerry wishes to thank his Heavenly Father for the many blessings I have received in this life.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden where family and friends may gather from 12 noon to 12:45 pm prior to the services. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.
