Jesse Craig Hodge

Jesse Craig Hodge, 34, passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2014 in Layton, Utah. He was born June 9, 1979 in Ogden, Utah to Bonnie J. Hodge and David Kevin Hodge. Jesse grew up in northern Utah with his older brother, David Bryan Hodge, whom he held very dear. In his childhood, he enjoyed camping and fishing with his grandfather and extended Hodge family. Jesse loved the mountains, loved his friends and family, and had a great sense of humor. He was an extremely devoted father to Mason Robert Hodge, 6, whom he loved with all his heart. Jesse was enormously proud of Mason, enjoyed spending time with him above all other things, and loved to share stories of his beloved son.

Jesse loved to draw when he was younger, and had recently taken up painting again. He enjoyed teaching and helping people in his position as a lead at the tech company Unisys, where he had recently earned a well-deserved promotion. Jesse was an amazing cook and manned the grill at every family barbecue. He was a skilled hand at the barbecue smoker, and enjoyed refining his technique. Jesse was an animal lover, and like his father had a special way with dogs. He and Mason also enthusiastically maintained an aquarium. Jesse was smart, kind, and thoughtful. Jesse loved his cousin Drew, who he had known all of his life. They were best friends.

Jesse loved his family immensely, and was always the first to lend a hand. He was a source of strength for his family, and was proud to have modeled his dedication and love after his mother's example. He was enormously supportive and caring, and his loving spirit will live on in his family, to whom he devoted himself unconditionally.

He is survived by his son Mason, his mother Bonnie, his father David, his brother David Bryan, and his nephew Darien, as well as many cousins, aunts and uncles, extended family and friends.
