With immense love and respect, we celebrate the life of Jewel Ann West Young, who was born on June 7, 1942, in Salt Lake City, Utah to William and Angelina West, and lived a remarkable life until April 4, 2025. Jewel was a woman of exceptional compassion and creativity, who made her mark not only in her professional life as a teller at Barnes Bank and in accounting at Farmers Grain Co Op, but also in the hearts of those who knew her.
Jewel, a loving mother and supportive friend, had a knack for making everyone around her feel cherished and valued. She lived in various places - Roy, Layton, West Point, before settling in Clinton, Utah. Yet, wherever she went, she created a sense of home through her warmth and kindness. She was a woman who loved unconditionally, and that love was returned to her a hundredfold. In her free time, Jewel enjoyed sewing, an outlet for her creativity, and bowling, a testament to her spirit of joy and camaraderie. As Helen Keller said, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart," and Jewel embodied this truth in every aspect of her life.
Jewel's life was centered around her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought immense joy and fulfillment to her life. She is survived by her sons, Scott (Marilyn) Young, Mark (Nicole) Young, Gary Jr. (Sarah) Young, 10 grandchildren, four (+1 on the way) great grandchildren and her brother William (Linda) West. Jewel was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gary Sr, her sister Barbara and her parents. As we remember Jewel, let us celebrate the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the legacy she leaves behind. She was a beacon of light in our lives, and her memory will continue to shine brightly in our hearts.
The visitation will take place on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 6:00 pm at Myers Mortuary, 5865 S. 1900 W., Roy, Utah. The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 11:00 am at the same location. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, the love of her life in the West Point Cemetery, 80 North 4000 West, West Point, Utah.
We invite you to share your memories of Jewel and upload photos to the memorial page. This will be a way for us all to reminisce and honor Jewel's beautiful life and the profound impact she had on everyone she knew.
