South Weber, Utah
We celebrate the life of JoAnn C. Brown, known affectionately as "Grammy" by those who held her dear. Born on March 8, 1942, in Ogden, UT, JoAnn was a beacon of resilience, love, and compassion. She was known for her dedicated service, both at Hill Air Force Base where she worked diligently for 25 years and in her personal life, where she consistently extended a helping hand to those in need. JoAnn was a woman of strong faith, deeply involved in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a full-time missionary in New Zealand and later on a Temple mission in Washington D.C. and full time missionary in the Washington Tacoma mission. These experiences, along with her various other callings in the Church, led her to embody the scripture from Matthew 25:40, "Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."
JoAnn was a loving mother, dedicated sister, and grandmother. She enjoyed small family outings, the thrill of playing competitive card games, and the peace found in the quiet moments spent reading or writing notes. Above all else, JoAnn loved her boys. Her love for her family was unwavering and profound, a testament to her caring nature. She had a knack for finding the good in any situation and was always looking out for others. She had a compassionate soul. JoAnn’s resilience was evident in every chapter of her life, from raising her children in Georgia, moving to South Ogden to raise her teenagers, and navigating through life’s trials with unwavering faith and strength.
JoAnn is survived by her sons, Wes (Melanie), James (Jennifer), Lance (Aimee), and Michael; and her daughter-in-law, Julia. Also by many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Grant and Mildred Chugg; her son, Brian Brown; and her brothers, Kraig and Gary Chugg.
The viewing will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 9:00-10:30 am at South Weber 3rd Ward, 7989 South 2250 East, Ogden, Utah, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am. JoAnn will be laid to rest at Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 South Washington Boulevard, Ogden, Utah, after the service.
