Joel Willard Lichtenwalner
OGDEN - Joel Willard Lichtenwalner went home to be with his precious Lord, Jesus Christ, on May 10, 2011 after an extended period of ill health. He was born to Willard Lewis Lichtenwalner and Helen Virginia Purdy Lichtenwalner on February 5, 1944 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. On July 4, 1947 he had his second birth when he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, even at that young age, understanding that having salvation could only be done God's way not his own.
Joel graduated from St. Petersburg High School in St. Petersburg, Florida in 1962. He then served in the US Air Force from 1962 - 1966. He married Anita Faye Roach on August 7, 1966 at First Baptist Church in Ogden, Utah. For two years he attended Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College in San Demas, California. Joel and Anita had one daughter Bethany Jewell Lichtenwalner on August 13, 1976.
Joel worked as an electronics technician and as a computer programmer. He enjoyed watching and learning about trains, studying his Bible, and telling folks about his God and Savior, Jesus Christ. Joel was a member of Berean Baptist Church since moving back to Ogden, Utah in 1989.
Joel is survived by his wife and daughter and by all his siblings: Stephen L. Lichtenwalner, Deborah L. Blumel, and Andrew F. Lichtenwalner.
Since by his own testimony, Joel was trusting in Jesus Christ for his salvation and not in any works of his own, his family is praising the Lord for releasing Joel from his pain and for taking him home to heaven. His family is looking forward to seeing him again in heaven. I John 5:13 "These things have I written unto you that believe on the same of the Son Of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2011 at the Berean Baptist Church, 3846 Jackson Ave. Friends and friends may call prior to the service from 2:00-2:45 p.m.
