Johann (John) Anton Ott Obituary (1940 - 2019)

Johann Anton Ott, (John), passed away February 9, 2019 in Layton, Utah. He was born on May 11, 1940 to Johann Anton Ott and Rosemarie Rimpl in Reischdorf, Czechoslovakia. He attended Baumholder American High School in Baumholder, Germany. He graduated from University of Michigan, Dearborn campus. He married Gail Louise Straney on November 26, 1964 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was an active member of Catholic Church. He initiated usher service at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Layton, Utah. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. John enjoyed doing leatherwork, DIY, volunteering at National Parks, the Ogden Depot Museum, Golden Spike National Historic Site, being an intermitted park ranger, traveling, hunting, fishing and building clocks. He is survived by his wife, Gail; son, Joseph; daughter, Julie (Mike); beloved grandson, Garrett Ott; sister Carmen Andersson (Norm); and six well-loved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred J. and Rosemarie Jones. A special thanks to Dr. Dwight Rigby, Dr. Glenn Biddulph and the staff at the CVTU at McKay Dee Hospital. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 15, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima, 210 Chapel Street, Layton, Utah. Family and friends may gather Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 250 N. Fairfield Rd. Layton, UT.
