John George Reis Jr. Obituary (1948 - 2022)

John George Reis Jr. of Clearfield, Utah passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. He was preceded in death by his wife Prasertsin (Dang) Reis who passed on May 7, 2018 and his parents John George Reis Sr. and Betty June Will Reis. John was born on September 12, 1948 at Mercy Hospital in Fort Dodge, IA. He graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1965 and began working for Illinois Gas & Electric while preparing to enlist in the Air Force. After fixing an eye problem he was able to enlist. He served all over the world and met his beautiful wife Prasertsin while stationed in Thailand. They fell in love and married. They came to the United States together and they made a home in Clearfield Utah, stationed at Hill Air Force Base. He retired as a Senior Master Sargent after 22 years of dedicated service. He filled a variety of roles for the Air Force over his career including transportation of ICBMs across the US, avionics repair, and aircraft ground equipment. At the end of his service he was a leader responsible for the training and daily work of more than 100 enlisted men and women. His second career was with the United States Post Office as a mail carrier in Davis and Weber Counties. He is survived by his sister Sandra Bird, brother-in-law Robert Bird, nephew Robert Bird Jr. and great niece and nephew Mackennah and Mason Bird, all of Belton, Texas. He was loved by many neighbors and friends. He will be missed greatly. A viewing will be held at Myers Mortuary in Roy, Utah on Friday, May 20, 2022 from 6-8pm.
