John Herbert Kolts

–

Willard, UT

Willard- John Herbert (Jack) Kolts, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2007 as a result of lung cancer. Born August 29, 1925, he was the sixth and last child born to John Henry "Jack" and Anna Larsen Kolts. He was born and raised in Eureka, Utah where his father was a blacksmith at a local mine.
Jack graduated from Tintic High School working during school to learn the trade of meat cutter in order to help support this mother as his father passed away when he was ten years old.
He was a member of America's greatest generation, entering the army in 1943 and serving in the European Theater of action until his discharge in April 1946. On his return home, he married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Deane Peterson. Together they had three children; John Henry (Mary) Kolts, Ralph Gerald (Reva) Kolts, and Beverly Ann (Larry) King.
Moving to Willard, Utah in 1955, they owned and operated Willard Cash Grocery, specializing in custom cut meats. Latter he worked at and retired from Thiokol.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his good friend Jarv. He especially enjoyed his cabin at Island Park; which all of the family and friend enjoyed with him. He was a man who liked to work; he liked tools of all kinds, used them and took pride in their purpose. He was a self taught wood craftsman and made many fine pieces if furniture for family and friends. He was a man who could fix anything. He really enjoyed using his chain saws to cut firewood. We teased him that he never saw a tree that he didn't want to cut into firewood.
He is survived by his wife and children; eight grandchildren, Russell, Jason, Michelle, Chris, Scott Kolts, LaNee Reynolds, Nick and Seth King; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Edward, sister Mildred, sister Ruth, brother Robert, and an infant Ralph.
We would like to thank his physician, Dr, Jeffrey Lish and his wonderful staff; his oncologist, Dr. Vincent Hansen of McKay Dee Hospital; Hospice Alliance; and his many friends who have helped with his passing.
According to his wishes private graveside services only will be held. He will be cremated and interment in the Willard Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers we would appreciate donations in his name to Hospice Alliance 345 N. Main St, Suite B, Brigham City, UT 84302
