John Ullman
September 26, 1948 - December 09, 2022
John Ullman, 74. passed away December 9, 2022, at his home in Perry, UT surrounded by his family. He was born on September 26, 1948, in Los Angeles, California, the son of Karl Heinrick and Barbara Joan Ricks Ullman. He grew up in Gardena, California where he completed his elementary education and graduated from Jefferson High School. He went on to attend Pasadena City College where he learned to build homes.
He married Marjorie Ann Murphy on May 18, 1972, in Rosemead, CA. They were sealed for time and all eternity one year later in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. They have enjoyed a fun-filled life, they had one daughter Rebecca Lynn, and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
John is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a Seventy, Stake Missionary and as a High Priest. He was a Gospel Doctrine Teacher which he loved because it increased his knowledge of the gospel. He served in the Ward Library with Marjorie where they loved helping others prepare for their lessons and passing out candy to the kids. He was also very involved in Family History. He enjoyed working with his sister-in-law Bernadine Nielsen in learning all he could about family history. He and Marjorie served as temple workers in the Brigham City Temple.
He loved being of service to others. He demonstrated his love of service to God, family, country and fellow man by his example. He honorably served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a frequent volunteer for church service and cleaning the buildings. John was always the first one to arrive and the last one to leave for any service projects that were asked of him. John worked for many years in Parking Lot Management. Throughout his time working he made many lifelong friends and felt blessed to serve others.
John loved politics and always went to vote in person. He always watched the news, Congressional Hearings, because he thought it was very important to keep up on current events and Political Happenings.
From an early age he loved the game of golf both as a spectator and player and at a young age was quite an entrepreneur. He delivered papers in his early age, and was the number one paper boy. He loved woodworking. He enjoyed planting a garden. His favorite pastime was spending time with Marjorie, who is his #1 fan and spending time with his family and his dog Stormy. While on vacation going to different beaches with family, he really enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels and could always be seen with a Cherry Dr. Pepper in hand. He had an amazing sense of humor, he was great at mathematical equations in his head, he was loving and kind with a quiet gentle giant disposition. Anyone that knew him, loved him. He had a great work ethic which he learned from his parents, especially his mother. She served as a waitress. He appreciated hard work and good service and was always a big tipper. His Dad was in the union as a secretary, treasurer of local 495, and so he was always supporting his dad and their union causes!
John is survived by his loving and devoted wife Marjorie Ann Ullman; adoring daughter Rebecca Lynn Moulton (Kevin) and 3 grandchildren that were the apple of his eye. He is also survived by his siblings: Richard Ullman and Sunny Ullman.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Aegis Hospice, especially Jody Jones for the tender loving care of John. A special thanks to Kent & Kathy Moulton for the assistance with grandchildren and John's niece Kathy Evans for her expert and knowledgeable care of John. The family would also like to express their love for Bernadine Nielsen (sister-in-law) for teaching John how to do family history and to the Perry 10th Ward Members for their love and support.
