John Max "Bud" Vanderwerff Obituary (1950 - 2017)

Click here to listen to the funeral recording. John Max "Bud" Vanderwerff returned home to our Heavenly Father on August 23, surrounded by his loving family after bravely fighting a lengthy illness. Bud was born in Ogden, Utah on February 28, 1950 to John Henry Vanderwerff and Maxine Crezee. Bud was married to Nancy Ellen Anderson on April 5, 1973 in the Ogden Temple. Bud graduated from Ogden High and attended Weber State. Aside from the two years he served in the Ohio/West Virginia Mission, Ogden has always been his home. His career with Weber School District culminated as Head Engineer of Weber and Fremont High Schools. He was honored and awarded the "Employee of the Year" by the district. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as a High Priest, a Seventy and was a counselor in the Bishopric. Bud was creative, quick witted, wise and funny. He loved his family, friends, camping, hiking and computers. He was an avid woodworker, mechanic, programmer and could fix most anything. Bud is survived by his wife and three daughters: Heidi (Sean) Adams, Sandi Vanderwerff, and Cheri (Jessie) Heaps of Ogden, three sisters: Jan Dobbins, Connie Morgan and Nedra Tauffer; six wonderful grandchildren: Patricia (Tyler) Julander, Sadira Adams, Max Adams, John Heaps, Henry Heaps and Emmy Gordon; beloved in-laws, including: Cheryl Bloomfield (Evan) Dagger, Mark (Deb) Hull, Brent (Pam) Rhees, Larry (Freda) Rainey, and Mckell (David) Keeney; and dozens of nieces and nephews. He was preceeded in death by his parents and his Uncle George Vanderwerff, in-laws Darrell and Delsa Anderson, father-in-law Harold Hull, and sisters-in-law Christie Rainey and Ginger Rhees .
