John Stanford Geddes, beloved father, husband, brother and friend passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026. He was 81 years old.
John was born on November 9, 1944 to Agnes Sarah McBride and Frank Horatio Geddes. He was the youngest of six children being quite spirited, mischievous and full of life. He had a happy childhood - surrounded by his many siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was raised in Washington Terrace, Utah and graduated from Bonneville High School. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints to Scotland. He loved to share stories about his experiences in Scotland and had a love for the Scottish people as well as their culture and traditions.
After his mission, he joined the Air Force. He served in active duty for four years. During this time, he met the love of his life - Joyce Fuller. They were married on Oct. 6,1967 in the Logan LDS Temple. After they were married, they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where John finished out his active duty at Nellis Air Force Base. At the end of the four years, John and Joyce moved back to Utah to be closer to family. They made their home in Washington Terrace, Utah and then later Far West, Utah. They were blessed with four children - Michele Lynn, Melanie Kay, Michael (stillborn) and Adam John. John was a wonderful husband and father. His life was a demonstration of love, faith, and service. His wit was contagious, his stories captivating, and his love for his family and faith, immeasurable.
John made a wonderful career for himself at Hill Air Force Base starting out as a janitor and then moving up to becoming an equipment specialist. He was well respected throughout his career and made many lifelong friends in his years at the Base. He was also blessed to be able to visit many beautiful places around the world in his capacity as an equipment specialist.
He was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many positions during his lifetime. He also served a short mission with Joyce at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building on Temple Square where they loved giving tours, sharing their testimonies and meeting people from all over the world.
John’s hobbies included gardening, yard work, and cleaning - activities he enjoyed for their simplicity and the sense of order they brought to his life. He loved working to ensure both his yard and home were immaculate at all times.
He is survived by his children Michele (Alan) Crook, Melanie (Chuck) Elliott, and Adam (Tallie) Geddes as well as all his precious grandchildren - Kody (Aubrey) Crook, Colton (Mariah) Elliott, Shaylen Crook, Sean (Ashlyn) Elliott, Hunter (Lexi) Elliott, Hannah (Wyatt) Blue, Jessa (Ryan) McMinn, Jace Geddes, Owen Geddes and Avree Geddes, as well as eight great grandchildren - Haven, Jed, Mack, Asher, Emery, Emrik, Gracie, Brooks and Declan.
