Ogden - Joseph M. Barela, 19, died March 14, 2010 in Ogden. He was born January 23, 1991 to Rodney and Gina Barela in Ogden, Utah. He was raised in Pocatello, Idaho and currently was living in Ogden. He was attending Adult Ed. receiving his G.E.D.

Joseph converted his life to becoming a born again Christian. He was a hard worker at Southern Classic. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his life was his friends.

Joseph is survived by his companion Nichole Archuleta; mother Gina Barela; father Rodney Barela; sister Tia Barela; brothers Christopher Rodney Barela Jr., Anthony Ray Barela; half-sisters Christina Sanchez, Anastasia Barela; grandparents Arthur F. Barela Sr. and Joe and Juanita Mata; three nephews Christopher R. Barela III, Derek Barela and C. J. Barela; many aunts; uncles and cousins that love him very much.

Preceded in death by grandmother Judy Barela; great-grandparents Joe and Anna Lopez and a very special cousin Richard Paul Martinez (Rick Dawg).

Special thanks to Mikel James Rhoades for his heroism at the accident in trying to save Joseph.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 19, 2010 at Myers Mortuary of Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd. with Chris Gutierrez officiating. Friends may call on Thursday, March 18th from 6 to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
