Joshua Bruce Cummings Obituary (1995 - 2008)

Joshua Bruce Cummings OGDEN - Josh Cummings, age 12, was received into Heaven on March 24, 2008. We are grateful that loving family members who have gone before, particularly his grandparents, Mary and Bruce Cummings and Patsy Cook, will offer him their sweet embrace until we are reunited. We are most grateful to our Savior who made resurrection a reality and eternal families a possibility. His mother and father, Deanne and Enos Cummings, and his brothers, Cody and Nathan will miss him in ways that words cannot express. Also surviving Josh are his great-grandmother, Margret Butt; his grandfather, Melvin Cook and many uncles, aunts, and cousins. As with everything in his life, Josh was in a hurry to join us in mortality and was born three weeks before his due date, on April 27, 1995. Since he was old enough to kick or toss a ball, he has been happy to participate in sports. He was excited to have recently mastered back flips on the trampoline and was the catalyst in our family to get us out to play flag football or basketball. He was blessed with a strong body and an adventurous spirit. Josh was also blessed with great intellect, always receiving top grades at school. Josh received the Hope of America Award in sixth grade and was serving as a class officer in 7th grade. Josh was a natural leader and we expect he will continue to receive opportunities to grow and serve. Josh was talented. His ability to pick up songs on the guitar, drums, piano, and viola was impressive and he had a wonderful singing voice. Josh's greatest gift was his ability to make and keep friends. He had an awesome group of friends and we thank them for being such an important part of his life. Josh also had a knack with little children, who would walk into our home asking, "Where's Josh?" Josh was currently serving as the Deacon Quorum President and was excited to be progressing in the Scouting program. We are grateful to his leaders for making his experiences memorable. We will miss Josh's quick wit and his melodic giggle. We love you, Josh. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 29, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at the Highlands Ward Chapel, 5855 South Skyline Drive. Friends and family may call on Friday, March 28th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden and Saturday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment, Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch.
